Dental diseases and defects can give rise to a plethora of problems in
the region, around it and manifest as some disorders.
Certain oral medical conditions can present difficult diagnostic and treatment
challenges. Therefore, we are pleased to offer you the expertise and experience
of the Center for Oral Medicine at our clinics. The specialty of dentistry
deals with the diagnosis and mostly non-surgical management of oral mucosal
diseases (dermatologic diseases of the mouth), orofacial pain, oral manifestations
of systemic diseases, salivary gland disorders, and the dental management
of medically complex patients. Furthermore with oral pathology and with
oral surgery, there is a close relationship with special care dentistry
and hospital dentistry

Teeth
problems come in all shapes and sizes. Orthodontics deals with the treatment
of malocclusions (improper bites), which may be a result of tooth irregularity,
disproportionate jaw relationships, or both. It is a means for improving
dental health and overall dentofacial aesthetics. Our goal is to establish
a smile that enhances the health, appearance, comfort and self-esteem
of all our patients. It means more than a beautiful and healthier smile.
Now people of all ages can enjoy healthier teeth and gums and a better
bite for normal chewing. We believe in developing an individualised treatment
plan for each patient. In our view, a full understanding of the patients
presenting problem and a thorough examination and investigation will lead
to a design and treatment course that is customised to address the patient’s
needs while meeting their expectations and desires.
The biological process involved in moving teeth is the same at any age.
Children and adults can both benefit from orthodontics. It is recommended
that every child receive an orthodontic evaluation by age nine. Treatment
may take a little longer for adults.
Different
treatment options:
Fixed braces: Fixed
braces are very good for correcting complex problems. The teeth have small
attachments glued to them known as brackets. These are commonly made of
stainless steel, when used for children as they are easier to keep clean.
For adults we have a variety of them, like the tooth coloured ceramic,
invisible braces, clear braces, colored braces and lingual braces. They
are much more aesthetic. In lingual fixed appliances, the attachments
are glued to the back of the teeth, very helpful for straightening teeth
for people in prominent positions.
Removable braces: Can
be removed, but they must be worn full-time, apart from when they have
to be cleaned. Removable braces are good for correcting simple problems,
such as moving a single tooth.
Functional braces:These
are also removable but have to be worn full-time, except for cleaning.
They are used to correct the growth pattern of the jaws. They can be used
when one jaw is bigger than the other, to correct asymmetry. They can
be used in conjunction with headgear to help jaws to grow correctly.
Lingual braces: They
are applied behind the teeth as compared to metal or ceramic braces which
are applied to the front of your teeth. Often called “Invisible
Braces”, they are the best and only non-visible form of fixed orthodontic
therapy. Although lingual braces are more expensive they offer a highly
cosmetic alternative to those patients who otherwise would not consider
treatment.
Retainers: Once
the active period is completed, your braces are removed. The next step
is called retention. Retainers are utilized to hold your teeth in their
new positions until your bone, gums, and muscles adapt to the new teeth
positions. You must wear your retainer as instructed, otherwise your teeth
may move toward their original positions and the benefit of wearing your
braces will be lost.
The retention period is an important part of your overall treatment and
should not be neglected!
Anti
snoring device: It’s a simple and safe anti-snoring device
to reduce or even eliminate your snoring. Dental anti-snoring devices
are made of soft plastic and fit comfortably inside your mouth. If fitted
by a qualified dentist, this device will not fall out, slip or obstruct
your airwaves. Getting fitted for an anti-snoring device can take as little
as two visits to the dentist. Often at the first appointment, dental impressions
are made. At the second visit, the device is fitted and you go home to
get a good night's sleep.
All our treatments are carried out using the latest state-of-the-art techniques
and technologies by highly skilled specialist orthodontists.
